RIGA – Dinamo Riga has acquired the services of Czech forward Jakub Sindel who will experience KHL hockey for the first time in his career.
The 25-year-old was selected 54th overall in the second round of the 2004 NHL entry draft. However after being selected, Sindel would spend one season playing for the Brandon Wheat Kings in the WHL before returning home to play for his former club, Sparta Praha.
After one season back playing for Sparta Praha, Sindel changed clubs to Plzen HC where he spent the next three and a half seasons before moving to Finland to play for the Penguins in the SM-liiga.
Returning to the Czech Republic in 2009-2010 to play for Brno Kometa, Sindel would be back playing for the Penguins in 2010-2011, featuring in a career-high 59 regular season games, picking up 15 goals and 18 assists – a number that also registers as a career high.
