DINAMO RĪGA has entered into a contract with the 28 year old Finnish forward Jere Karjalainen, who played for the HK SOCHI team in the 2020/2021 season and, in the KHL regular championship, scored 6 times and had 9 assists in 46 games.
Jere Karjalainen (height: 175 cm, weight: 80 kg) was born on 23 May 1992 in the capital of Finland, Helsinki. He started off his career as a hockey player in the Helsinki JOKERIT club system playing in the U18 and U20 junior teams, later also for the farm club KIEKKO-VANTAA, in the second strongest league MESTIS, and debuted in the line-up of the main team in the strongest Finnish league LIIGA (SM-LIIGA). In total, playing in this league for 8 seasons in the JOKERIT, HPS and TAPPARA teams, Jere Karjalainen participated in 308 games of the regular championship (81 goals and 74 assists) and 81 play-off games (12 goals and 8 assists). Together with TAPPARA he became a two time champion of Finland in 2016 and 2017. The previous season with the HK SOCHI team in the KHL championship was his first outside Finland. While in the national team of Finland, Jere Karjalainen also played in 6 qualification games (2 goals and 2 assists).
