Neftekhimik’s power play put in a devastating display to sink Dinamo Riga. The home team scored four power play goals in the first two periods to take the game away from the Latvians, with Dinamo only managing to kill the first penalty of the game.
It was a good evening for the home team’s imports, with Zack Mitchell and Matt White both collecting two points. Neftekhimik’s leading goalscorer, Pavel Poryadin moved on to four for the season and added an assist along the way.
Dinamo improved in the third period and took the game to Neftekhimik. The visitor managed to stay out of the box until the closing minutes and worked hard to pressure the home goal. However, Konstantin Barulin held off all-comers to finish with 20 saves and his first shut-out of the season.
